Tales from the Surplus Store #1

Bob,

I've got your hook-up!

I've got a good power transformer from a Scott 299C. Heck, I've got an entire unit minus the outputs-they were pulled for a project a while back, but put aside when I found the old dry leads were cracked right at the core.

They were repairable-but I have an major dislike of anything "cobbled" together, so on the shelf they sit.

PM me if you're interested. I bet we could work something out that would be impossible to refuse!

Hey, yeah, I'd like to hear about that! Message sent.

Nice to help a member out, nice to know the chassis will find new life again with someone who appreciates it...

Sounds like yours is an maybe an LK-72? Don't know if the 233 was offered in kit form. Either way, a great amp and well worth the effort to bring up to snuff!

Yes, it is an LK-72. I didn't know Scott made kits! This one looks pretty well put-together, were they component level kits, or more like the Dynaco modular approach? Either way, I'm curious to hear this thing...one more for the to-do pile!

Hi Bob!
I remember when everyone seemed to be making kits...Fisher, Scott, H/K with their Award Kits, and even McIntosh ever so briefly. I built Heath and Eico systems "in the day" and was thrilled at the results. If only I had the foresight then to keep them. I remember the LK-72 "ScottKit" well. It differed from the commercial equivalent only in the color of the front panel (Brown instead of brushed bronze). Great find!

Incidently, I worked in your Rohnert Park store for nearly 6 years before moving on. Thursday was always thrilling because the "surplus surprises" came in. Great trip down memory lane.
