Tandberg TR-1055

dr*audio,
Thanks for the advice I have the braid and the controlled soldering iron. When sourcing caps are there any brands I should be looking for, are there caps that are better for audio or do I only need to be concerned about the values?

I just spotted this post and thought I would interject, even though the discussion is a couple of months old.
How's the rebuild coming along? I have owned a 1055 for approaching 4 years now, and had it overhauled and upgraded by Tandberg specialist Nick Antonescu 2 years ago. I can attest that, if done correctly, these are formidable pieces. Since getting the unit back, I have been assembling components around it more worthy of its performance. I would be interested in finding what your results are.

How can one fall into one of these and disappear in notes in the air?
