Tandberg TR 2055 Receiver

My lady's Tandberg TR 2055 Receiver is sounding not enjoyable now and she has given me the green light to try to fix the issue with this community's help, please. I am listening to White Rabbit on it now through a Macbook and the bass and treble sound good but most tracks more in the midrange are only faintly audible. I have fiddled with the knobs and noticed no improvement. She has told me when she fiddles with the output jacks sometimes the sound pops back correct and the remote speaker jacks don't produce any sound at all. What are the first things I should test when I open this fine receiver up?

Check all solder joints. Make sure all fuses are clean. Deoxit all pots. Look for any leaky or buldging caps.
All vintage receivers need a recap. But start with the basics.
