Tandberg volume pot replacement question...

I have a Tandberg TR 2040 that has a bad volume pot. It is marked 25K Ohms. I purchased a used part from the same model but it is marked 50K Ohms. I'm not sure if there was a change in later production of these units or why exactly there is difference.

My question is, is it safe to install into my unit? Would there possibly other changes that went with this volume pot change or would this be for some other performance reason? I was hoping to get some input from those who know about these things before I tear into mine.

Hi there! I also have a bad volume pot in my TR-2030. Replaced a bunch of transistors and caps but left channel still week and dull. Very hard to find a suitable replacement volume pot. Anyone knows of a drop in I can use? TX

Keep an eye on Ebay. Ive seen a few pop up there. Be aware as above. Mine installed fine except it changed the loudness curve.
