Tannoy Autograph Mini alternative

Hi,

I'm looking for some bookshelf style speakers and I recently heard the Tannoy Autograph Mini, and I really liked them a lot. The price, unfortunately, not so much.
Is there anything that compares to the sound of the Autograph Mini's anyone would recommend? Or is there another Tannoy speaker that uses the same dual concentric speaker as the Autograph Mini's but has a cheaper cabinet? I suppose a lot of the money goes into making the nice cabinet. But I don't care for that, I only want the sound ;)

Were there any other speakers on display where you heard the Tannoy's? You may (or not) get lots of recommendations from other AK'ers. But, the only one who can decide if you like the sound of a speaker is YOU! Good luck in your search. You might be better off letting us know what your budget is and the recommendations will flow.
 
Try and listen to any other speakers with Tannoy dual concentric drivers. The Tannoy duals are a unique product, and have a clarity not always found in competitive products.

I used a pair of saturn s6 I bought in 2001 for many years. I am not familiar with the contemporary offerings, but I absolutely loved the sound of the ones I had. When I bought them I auditioned a bunch of other tannoys, and they all sounded similar. I did prefer the 6" models to the 8", despite the latter having more bass. Look at their website, in the past all tannoys except the cheap ones you don't want had duals.
 
IIRC, the Tannoy Arena satellites shared a very similar (if not the identical, save color) driver to the Autograph Mini.

I always wanted to take a pair of the Arena drivers, and put them into cabinets similar to the Autograph Mini...

As for contemporary Tannoys that might compare- the Revolution DC4 or Revolution XT Mini might be worth a listen. Might be able to find those for considerably less...

Does anyone have any experience with the Fyne Audio F500? They are made by the engineers that left Tannoy to form Fyne Audio...
 
The Fyne Audio f500 cost £599, don't know if they are available in the US yet. (I'm from Belgium myself, that small country in Brussels ;)
