TANNOY Comet C-10 speakers

Hi every one. I want to share my new acquisition with you, a pair of vintage TANNOY Comet C-10 Speakers. Of course there are many better speakers available on the market, but for $180.00 Canadian dollars (about $135.00 US dollars) it's a steal for people on low budget who want ''audiophile'' grade sound. In the Comet family TANNOY (design in England) but manufacture in Canada (1989) they made the C-6, the C-8 and the one I have the C-10 referring to the size of the woofer. The C-10 cabinet is 12 inch wide, 24 inch high and 12 inch deep with the front grill. Tweeters are VIFA, woofer must be (Tannoy ?). I did not look at the crossover yet, but I will probably upgrade the capacitors for fresh top quality one. Both of my woofer have been rework with new suspension at this price. I very very please with the overall quality, deep bass (maybe a little to much, I may try to fill the port with foam or something to reduce the bass) and the high are clear and crisp.

I really have a liking for 10" two-way designs. They seem to be the perfect combination before having to resort to three-way systems. They typically have a rather rolled-off high end, with good bass response. I'll bet the C10s sound nice.

Do the factory specs actually list them as "dual port?"

Well I just did a copy and paste with the specs, but you are right, I don't see dual port, just a single. Yes they sound pretty amazing for such a low price.
 
I found some for 220$ Canadian in amazing shape should I go for it? I have a pair right know of the c-10 but the woofers have been replaced before and I feel like the bass response is not there but anything higher than 100hz sounds amazing any thoughts ?
 
I re-foamed my sister's C10s last summer, they were bought new in 1990.
Checked them all out when I was re-foaming them; everything was fine.
It's hard to find a better sounding speaker of that size, new or used.
Extremely well balanced with neutral sound on just about all genres of music.

NOTE: I've seen pics of C10s with 2 ports on the back as opposed to one in front. My sister's has the single port like yours.

PS: They like stands, specifically to control bass output; more so if you have wood floors like my sister has.
 
I got them for 200$ in amazing shape and for the money I feel like nothing beats them they just do everything right and soundstage is amazing. Never gonna get rid of them if I can. they are that good in my opinion. Paired with a sub all genre sounds good.
