Hello.
I've been wanting some tannoys for 30yrs. A marriage ending means I get to get what I want.... Tannoys are 2nd on the list (bought a Bryston 4B yesterday!). My memory is rusty on the tannoys. I found 3 online I am considering. I wish to ask for opinions from you folks on these 3 speakers: dc6000 15", SRM 12x 12", cheviots HPD 12". (all are in original cabinets)
Yes they are slightly different price points and they'll probably sound a little different. I'm not worried about the price difference (for the first time in 25yrs). I'm not asking if you think something sounds "better" since that is subjective. I am interested in experienced views related to quality and performance.
I would assume the dc6000s would deliver more very low frequency chest pounding tight thump than either of the 12" speakers. Please tell me if you think otherwise. I like very low frequency tightness (hate muddy).
Are any of these speakers known to be "lemons"?
I listen to jazz, blues, rock, classical -- so it probably does not matter.
many thanks
