Tannoy Lot - Opinions

So I am picking up some speakers on Saturday (actually 5 speakers and stands). This is whats included in the lot:

Pair of Tannoy s8lr
Single Tannoy s8c
Pair of Tannoy MX2's
Atlantis Signature Stands

Everything appears to be in mint shape. We settled on a price of $375 Canadian...

Any thoughts on the price to performance ratio? This will be my first set of Tannoy's and I am sorta pumped to give them a listen.

I think you have a very nice deal on some very nice speakers... but...

These are not the "Tannoys" that everyone lusts after; 15 (or 12) inch coaxes in big boxes is what they are famous for.

Still - great buy that will sure to please. Enjoy.

Those 8 inch dual concentrics are supposed to be pretty darned nice. I haven't heard any of them, though.

I know they are not the big boys that everyone raves about, that being said I am hoping they give me a taste of what dual concentrics speakers sound like. If I like them I have a lead on a pair of Ardens (my cousin has them) and said he would lend them to me with the ability to buy them for a real fair price. The reason I have not pulled the trigger on this deal is I have very limited space and already have a pair of Klipsch Epic CF-3's Versions 1's I like a lot.

I can't have both....

I'm curious about your thoughts too!

I've had a pair of Mercury MX4 towers which sounded great until I placed them in their final destination. They are rear ported and that didn't work near the wall and curtains. They like lots of air to breath.

I've also had a pair of Stratfords which I really liked driven by a Sansui BA-2102 power amp.

And finally, I currently have a pair of DC3000 towers and they sound fantastic!
