I'm posting here to ask for help, information, and some guidance.
A few years ago I was given a pair of Tannoy duelcentric speakers by my uncle. They are in great working condition.
From my research. I think they are 12" monitor blacks. But my uncle brought them new in the 70s. They are in big heavy floor standing cabinets, which are lined, and has 3 transformers bolted underneath. (I'll get you all photos soon) I've opened the back, and they are black gloss painted. Can't find a serial number. I'll look again when I take some photos.
My questions are:
Should I change the cabinets to enhance the sound. I have a sub with my system and I enjoy a bit of low end sound.
I have friends that are handy, and can make me a new cabinet. I like the idea of a transmission line cabinet. Is this a good idea?
What amp should I be using. I understand they are only a 15w speaker and I've been careful with volume, but I'd love to make them sing and be the basis of my audio system. I'm into my vinyl, so a good photo stage is essential.
Are these worth keeping? I see a whole lot written about the red and gold tannoys. I think they are cool but there's not much on this model speaker.
What sort of maintenance do I need to do to keep these another 40yrs
Any help or guidance is hugely appreciated, I'll try answer any questions to the best of my ability.
