I am looking for opinions on these. Need to buy a pair of bookshelf speakers for my son's dorm room.

Looking for warmish sound with nice mids and highs and not boomy bass. I know that is asking alot for the money. We already have a ton of harsh/tinny/boomy/muddy,etc. crap

I found both pairs for $105 shipped to my door.I would like your opinions if possible,is one any better than the other?

They will be used at lower/middle volumes, occasionally cranked some...when the roomate is gone.

They will be paired with an old/70s receiver and a so-so cd palyer.

Are these speakers OK for the money? or should I look for something else ?

I do realize I am talking about the bottom of the food chain here. Education has top priority dollar wise ,so the stereo budget is low.

Thanks for any help,I am open to all suggestions.

I have the Tannoy PBM 6.5 paired up with a Kenwood 7100. I think they sound excellent. I gave $30.00 for mine, and refoamed them myself.
