TASCAM 424 MKIII Boot Loop + clicking sound

Hi everyone,

After cleaning and re-seating the capstan belts of my Tascam 424 MKIII I'm experiencing an infinite boot issue with the device when powering it on. Here's a video demonstrating the issue:

A faint whine and clicking sound can be heard when the device is powered on. Has anyone experienced this issue before? How would I approach debugging this?

Thanks,

Chris aka BILL JOBS

Could it just have been the cassette tape? If the pace of it changes over the course of tape, that would be a giveaway. And of course if it changes (or disappears) when you put in another tape.

Hangon, I see now it makes that sound without a tape in it as well. In that case it is more likely something to do with the capstan-shaft or some other tape-run related wheelie.. Great if the issue is gone, but without an actual fix I suppose it might return.
