Tascam da 30 mk ii - dat

Hi !!
i am thinking to buy a Dat Tascam 30 mk II , in great shape, almost new
Is it a good machine ? I have a Panasonic SV 3700 and a Fostex (with some troubles playing) D 5
I hope some advices and comments

There's one at my school.

It's my headphone amp in the tech booth. haven't used it otherwise but I am trying to acquire it. The can stage mates well with MDR-V6's
 
I have a Tascam 30 mkII. It gives me no troubles whatsoever. I kept it over sony, fostex and panasonic decks.
 
I think the Tascam has a certain "robust simplicity" to it's mechanism. Probably it's strong point.
 
The 30 is a very reliable DAT machine, and easy to work on. The achilles heel is a small belt on the bottom of the mech, that loads the tape. A friend and customer of mine complained that he did not like the sound as much on the 30 as his SV3800. I replaced all the opamps with LM833N and he was very happy with the sound after that.
 
Ok, because they are offering me 2 kind of machines, i mean two kind of models of Tascam

1 - Tascam D 30
2 - Tascam D 30 MK II

i Think the Tascam D 30 MKII is superior.... or more new model

Is really very supperior? or the two machines are almost the same ??

I can see other features from the D 30 MKII

I don't know what the difference is. I'd pick the one with less hours on it, and don't worry about other differences.

I bought my new Tascam !!

Yes, after a lot of days thinking about, i bought a Dat Tascam DA 30 MK II

I was tempted by a Sony 670 (that one that charge the Dat cassette like an ordinary Cassette) but, i think that a Sony 670 is a low end machine !!!

Then, i had to decide between a Tascam DA 20, a Tascam DA 30, a Tascam DA 30 Mkii and a Sony 670, and a PCM 500

Wow !! I did it !
I bought tascam DA 30 MK II with a few hours of use and in good shape conticions

.......So sad.... my Fostex D5 is a beautiful machine, but it play very low db still
