TD 125 GRACE badged model

At one time I read somewhere that this table was supplied with a Grace cartridge, But which Grace cart?
BTW it is an unchanged unit with the Thorens tonearm. {probably my best table).
I'd just like it to have the original cart / stylus.

I think it is more likely that some store sold the Thorens with a Grace cartridge than that Thorens did. But what do I know?
But your desire for the 'original cartridge/stylus seems odd to me - they came with interchangeable headshells for a reason. And 'the original cartridge/stylus' concept is more typical of lower end tables than your 125. People buying fancy tables usually want choose their own cartridge (and often the arm, too, which is why the arm board is replaceable). Simply using what the manufacturer has supplied kind of undercuts your golden ear credibiility.

That's a new one for me. It's likely a local initiative. I seriously doubt Thorens got affiliated with Grace, especially when the TD-125 was still in production.
 
I've seen these Grace "badges" with some of the cartridges. It's likely some dealer or buyer just stuck the badge to the armboard. I have never read/seen that it was anything official...and I've worked on a few hundred 125s.

Dave has worked on more Thorens than anyone else here. He specializes in them. His post is dead on.
 
Yes hundreds of 125s is alot of 125s.
You all are probably right about the "store" connection. I bought it from the original owner and she told me that she had to have the Shure V15 IV. Which is what it came with.
Someday I'll learn.

Though I never owned one friends of mine loved their Grace F9E with the Shibata shaped stylus. (spelling) I use to take my favorite records over for listening. They did a superb job. Only my Stanton 981 with a CS 1000 stylus could come close. I had given up on Ortofon MC cartridges. They just could not track that well at the time. But back in 2008 I went back to MC starting with a 10 X4 then a 10 X5 and now two series 2 20 X 2 Dynavectors with the 10 X5 as a spare. Maybe one of these days I'll get an XX-2. You have to be careful choosing a MC as some can be quite bright in the top octave which I don't appreciate.
