Before you judge me for getting this specific unit, know that I needed a turntable with great WAF, and I had a soft spot for TDK from childhood. This was a $399 turntable back in the 90s, and I found one at GW a month ago for $50. It's in great shape, with plastic still on - but it was missing the AC adapter. I tried a bunch of AC adapters with same specs, and it wouldn't power on. Yesterday, I finally received an original TDK AC adapter - and it still won't turn on. I have the manual, everything is properly connected, but it won't turn on. I can't find a service manual anywhere, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to take it apart. The only visible screws are in the middle of the bottom cover, around the motor, and under the platter. The spring-loaded feet just turn and turn, and I see no screws anywhere. Has anyone tried taking this one apart? Am I missing something obvious? Please help!

Looking at pics online, I don't believe this is a 90s turntable. USB wasn't that common in the 90s, even on computers - and certainly not on turntables.
In fact, this table looks really similar to some being currently made. Assuming the belt is present and in place. Did you just turn the speed selector to 33 or 45 assuming it would move, or did you actually pick up the tonearm and move it over the platter? Most of the these belt drives won't actually start turning until you push the tonearm over the top of the record.
