TDL Loudspeakers.

Hello again,

I being a little fan of TDL speakers, I own a pair of TDL Studio 0.75 M speakers. These little floorstanders are good full rounded sounding speakers. And the bass is just amazing for such a small floorstander.

For the midrange, they are very detailed and revealing. On the other hand they do sound a bit sharp (As to what my father said) But I do agree. Really, these speakers are very suited to warm sounding amps.

So, I love my TDL speakers and there is no going back now with these pure original speakers.

In respect, I would like to ask you audiokarmas what TDL speaker you liked.

There is one TDL speaker I would love to hear, that would be the TDL Reference Standards. But, if anyone has exp the big TDL's please share your views with me.

Thanks for your time.

I cannot speak to the TDL designs myself, but I do enjoy their forbearers, the IMF Studio TLS 50. They have an extremely good quality bass for any size speaker, and I agree that the midrange sounds best with a tube amp (you can reference my own thoughts here).

I would like to hear the descendants of the IMF's one day. Enjoy them!:music:

Thank you.

I bet if you were playing a song that has bass, people say with big IMF speakers you can feel the bass go through your chest.

I could be wrong anyway.

Sorry to ask this silly question which is a little out of the subject.

Every once a week I clean my TDL speakers. I use pledge Multi surface spray to clean my speakers. It does a good job in keeping TDL's to shine.

What are the other best cleaning spray's or waxes that you can use on speakers?

I've heard the TDL Reference's. Driven by an Aragon 8008 poweramp for the low-end and some Aitos mono (tube) amps for mid and high's. Can't remember which sources, but it was pretty high end. It sounded absolutely great. Very defined low-end without being overpowering, beatifull mid and sweet but detailed high. Also very good stereo imaging, which suprised me because they are rather bulky and have seven drivers if I remember correctly.
They do need a lot of space though, and also (according to the owner) sound best with a lot of power, despite the normal sensitivity.

Although that particular system ranks very high in my personal list of favorite systems, I prefer the sound of ribbons, despite some obvious shortcomings. The TDL Reference is about the best conventional loudspeaker I've heard.

shane < yes in fact you CAN feel it, and in addition the cutlery "plays" too :D.
Best bass i've ever heard :thmbsp:
