TEAC 1500 Dummy Plugs

I was given a TEAC A-1500 recently and I'm trying to get it going again. Its missing a dummy plug and I don't have a remote so right now its more or less dead weight with a spinning capstan. I'm new to this so I'm wondering if you guys knew any quick fixes or can suggest some reliable source to get one from?

I have the original owners manual and they keep comparing it to the 1600 model, so I'm thinking that plug should work too, do you guys know of any other models that are also compatible? It might widen the field for me.

On a side note... Anyone know when TEAC came out with the 1500 series? What do you guys think of the model?

I'm pretty sure. Everything else runs and I was told that my model needs a dummy plug for the directional buttons to engage and I don't have it.
 
Teac Dummy Plug

My Teac A-2300SX has the dummy plug installed into the jack for the remote control, and will not run if it is not installed.

How many pins are there in your jack? My A-2300SX has 11.

The late 60's. I purchased an A-1500W before I left Vietnam in '69 and I believe they were still available in the early 70's.

As far as the plug is concerned, you might try and look for a machine that's being parted out or is non-working condition as grab it for spare parts.

The service manual might help as far as pin outs are concerned.

If the same remote control is use - it look's like this : (pin 1 and 11 are jumpered in the dummy)

Ohhh - think you need pin 1 and 2 jumped in the remote plug :)

I've attached a picture of the switch so you guys can judge for yourselves.

It doesn't look like the examples you have shown me.

I am currently searching out for people parting out their reel to reels. I wanted to see what people with more experience thought.

pic is a bit unclear - is it a 4 pole plug ? (can't find a schematic for those decks)
