TEAC 2300S Button removal & repair help needed

I purchased this unit and the tapes turn etc. However, the buttons are extremely erratic.
Some of them are stiff, some of them don't disengage when you press the stop and the play button doesn't stay in at all.
I would like to remove the button mechanism, but visually, I can't tell how to get it out of the unit.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to remove it ?
Thank you

Don’t remove them. Spray contact cleaner on the mechanism from the inside. Look for a place to get the spray inside them and repeatedly work them all. Power off.
It should free them up fine.

One of the A-6300's I purchased had a piece of a broken plastic limit stop jammed behind the buttons. The pic is from my 6300 which shares similar switch design. A module with relays and micro momentary switches mounts behind the buttons. The switches do not latch when pressed in, unless the 2300 is that different. Sounds like something gummed the buttons up.

FWIW, you know you have a broken right (facing deck) tension arm limit stop if the arm drops below 3 o'clock rest position with no tape tensioned.

Parts list pic from A-2300 SM. An A-6300 with reverse play shown for reference.

NOTE: IF you ever attempt disassembly, remember that Japanese decks use Japanese Industry Standard screws requiring JIS screwdrivers. JIS screws are identified by tiny dimple in head. Regular Phillips drivers want to cam out with torque and you can strip the heads.
