teac a-170 cassette rumble

I have a teac A-170 cassette deck (1975),plays great on right channel,left channel vu pegs even when not playing anything,like a rumble sound in the speaker,just turn it on and this happens,even when you dont have a tape in the machine right vu ok,left vu pegged and flutter sound out of speaker,can someone please tell me what this is??:scratch2:

it's probably the record/playback switches needing a deoxit cure - one or two long switches, that are actuated in record mode

Open the deck, locate them, and try to poke them, that would normally be a good indication of the fault ( in fact, this fault is very often seen)
 
Teac a-170 no audio

Now i have no audio!,both meters move normal now,but no audio,happened after i cleaned the switch do you know what this could be,or what caused it?thanks for your help.
 
I'd clean the switch again, while cycling it, then clean other switches, like the tape selector one and the Dolby switch, all with the power off.

cleaned the switch again,audio is back,and good:music:,now to tackle the no left channel record,this will be fun:no:
