Hi folks, hoping I might be able to find some advice.
Received today what should be my ideal tape machine, a teac a-3440. I got a very good deal on it thanks to it only being partly tested. Unfortunately it received a couple of solid bashes on it's way to me, as well as possibly having one or two to begin with.
The main issue I've discovered, and really the main one as of now is that neither the Record button or the Pause button works. Playback works fine on all channels, as does FF, RW and the stop button.
I have managed to try a few things thus far, including reseating the channel cards, and I have disassembled through to get the front plate for the controls off. (This was mainly to fix a sticky FF button, and to check for corrosion.)
As of now though I can see nothing obvious that would cause this issue, though I'm far from a trained eye, so I'm hoping I might be able to ask for some advice. I assume the issue is going to lie with the controller card, as neither of the LED's will switch on for pause or record, though I also get no VU meter activity or source monitoring audio when I connect my phone to the line in-s and played some music at full volume with the inputs turned right up, though from my experience with other machines I assume this is because it isn't in record mode.
This is a bit of a ramble, but if there's any other info I can supply just let me know.
Any advice or help is hugely, hugely appreciated!
Cheers!
