Teac A-550RX cassette deck spooling problem

Hi all, I need your kind help

I got this deck for free, I replaced only one belt which was the one for the capstan.

The deck fast forward and rewinds just fine but when I hit play the right reel spins counter clockwise causing a mess since the tape spools from the inside instead of the outside.

I made a video, hopefully this help explain better my problem.

I have never seen that before. It looks like the voltage to the take up reel is being applied backwards but only in play mode. It is not an auto reverse deck is it? ( I don't think it was )

I found the issue, the belt was routed incorrectly but it's also too short for the application. I took an old belt and cut it to make it shorter and spliced it and the deck now spins correctly. The motor is weak though, seems like I need to replace it.

Well routing the belt wrong would do it. Nice deck by the way. Great specs too, especially if you use DBX nr.

Thank you, I don't use the DBX and noticed that if I turn the Dolby on I lose audio on the right channel, the audio on the headphone jack is super low so that's another issue with the deck which I need to figure out.
