If I plug it in and turn it on, it powers up just fine. If I turn it off and it’s still plugged in, the next time I power it up the display doesn’t come on. If I unplug it and plug it back in, works fine. As long as I connect it to one of the switched outlets on the preamp, it takes care of itself, but still, it’s an odd thing.

Has anyone else with one of these units had the same thing happen?

Where are you pluging it into when the fault shows up? Different than the switched outlet that seems to be ok from your statement?
 
The problem is that if I don’t unplug it, the display doesn’t power up the next time it is turned on… doesn’t seem to matter what outlet.
