Hi all,
First time repairing a cassette deck. Noticed that the cassette was playing quite strangely - very intermittent sound. Took a look at the mechanism and saw that the pinch roller wasn't engaging with the capstan. It seems that there was a spring that was kind of dangling down, which should have been propping the pinch roller up. I saw that there was a screw on the end, so silly me thought ok I'll just tighten it and then it will be rigid and will be able to hold the pinch roller up. Well, it just got looser and fell out. The end of it look like there might be some snapped plastic. However, I can't really see any broken plastic left in the mechanism. Essentially, I have no idea of the nature of this piece and am not sure if it is fixable.
Any help on identifying the exact nature of this piece and whether it is perhaps repairable. If it is not, I'd prefer to be put out of misery so I can move on.
