I have a chance at a rather large set of vintage speakers and i cannot find much info. They look solid and well built. i was going to buy some diatone ds-50c s but got distracted by these. any opinions or data?

I did it! i stumped AK!

OK this is actually a gratuitous selfish bump. It seems that i cant figure out how to post my pics anymore. The only other clue i have for you is that the back plate has 2 dials, one being a 3 position switch to control the mids and one variable pot to run the tweets. nice looking solid screw terminals. also some print calling it a 3 way 8 ohm speaker max 50w. The grills were not easily removable although i did not really put too much effort into it.

cheers

Google translate did it for me. Not actually much information - 12 inch three way, and that three way switch is different taps on a coil.

Bah! That lil voice in my head made me acquire these speakers. I ended up trading some gear that i have not used in 3 years so it made sense at the time. they fit all the parameters for being a decent mystery speaker. Quality terminals and a solid build. i cant wait to crack them open to check out the drivers. one grill was compromised so i could feel that the surrounds were intact. i am letting them sing for a bit...they started off a bit fuzzy but seem to be tightening up some as they play. now i have a Teac Magnafloat as a source and some Teac Speakers of the same vintage. the audio journey continues

edit : The speakers are now sounding very nice. i look forward to hearing these with tubes a flashligjht shows twin tweeters and mids.

One last try with the pics.

These speakers are pretty nice low powered units. i have been switching out a few different amplifiers with them and they sound great with tubes and low powered solid state. i really like them with the Sansui 8080db. i was looking for some efficient speakers to run some of my lower powered equipment and these seem to be the ones. i am clueless on the drivers identity and i guess that i am fine with that

30Hz~20kHz
103dB

I just picked up a set of these and am very impressed with the build quality. One of the woofers was swapped out for an 8 inch radio shack that does not even fill up the space! Other than that they are in great shape! I really need the specs on the woofer, woud you happen to have that?

I do not have any info on the woofers. i was and still am really excited to see the fronts of the mids and tweets for the first time. we are listening to a bit of Mardi Gras jazz tonight on fat tuesday and these sound pretty smooth.

edit: these speakers just seem to be awesome with jazz. that is all

Thanks for that, I will continue to look for a woofer replacement, or likely swap both out for matching woofers if I can get the impedance tested on the one I have. Here's a front shot of the mids and tweets, with that wonky Radio Shack addition
