I have a Teac PD-X100, which is a 100-disc changer. It had regular use from the time it was new until about 2007. It has been sitting mostly unused since then. There is a problem with the loading and unloading sequence. Looking over the laserology sticky, it’s obviously a mechanical problem.
Initially, it was a little sticky. The carriage moved very slow. I lubricated a few areas and moved it back and forth manually. The carriage moves on its own now and all of the motors seem to run at the correct speed. It refuses to load and eject discs. It runs fine and reads the discs normally if you manually work the gears and load a CD into position, but it hangs up if loading on its own. There are rubber rollers that grab the disc and move it in and out of position. Everything moves fine when there is no disc, but once there is a disc to grab, it hangs up. Everything seems to be well-aligned. The belt doesn't seem to hold when there is a load on the rollers.
Does it look like the belt is too loose on that brass pulley? If so, are these belts somewhat universal or should I just give up now, given the unlikeliness of finding a specialized 25-year-old rubber belt for a Teac changer?
Goes a little out of focus unfortunately, but I think everything should be visible.
