Technicals Data on SETTON AS-3300

WAAHOOOOOOO!!!!!

JUST GOT MY BS-5500 today!!!!!!!!!

I only have good things to say about it. AWESOME SOUDN QUALITY, much better than I expected.

I am cleaning it up more and I will post pics of it in the BS-5500 thread when Im done.

Also, I wonder if the TUS-600 is as rare as the BS-5500?

TBK: Congrats on your TUS 600 buy. I hope it arrives (from Germany) in good shape.

IME, the preamp seems to be the hardest to find. Good luck finding the PS 5500.

Another AS-3300 owner

Hi, my first AK post - wondering if there's still anyone following this thread. I've used a Setton AS-3300 for about the last 25 years. The left channel has been giving me intermittent problems for about 5 years and finally got unbearable. So, a couple of questions ...

Should I try to get this fixed (or maybe even fix it myself, I've got a soldering iron around here somewhere)?

Is there someone out there who can fix these?

Thanks!

Gruve-

Settons can be very temperamental if not frequently used.
I work my AS3300, TUS600 and RS220 at least once or twice a month.
If you need a service manual for the AS3300 so you can repair let me know.
I have one scanned.

Nick

Thanks!

I really appreciate all the feedback, To answer a couple of questions that were posted:
No, the AS-3300 is the only Setton unit I have.
I ordered the Caig cleaner but haven't had the time to apply it.
And I don't think lack of use would be the problem, this unit is part of our primary music system and gets played just about every day.
Thanks for the offer of a service manual. I actually had the foresight to order one back when the unit was fairly new and I even think I know where it is!

Thanks again for everyone's help. This site is an awesome resource.

gruve:

are you experienced at all with electronics work like this?

De-oxiting is a very easy procedure but needs to be done properly to be effective. If you have any questions about how to do it just send me a PM and I can explain in detail how to do it.

Good luck!!

Hello, yesterday i bought a Setton AS 3300 and TUS 600. I will receive both items next week. Unfortunately i have no further informations about these very rare items. Are there any informations about the specs?
Regards from Germany, Dirk

The AS-3300 was first rated FTC at 55wpc into 8 ohms. later it was bumped up to 70wpc, IIRC.

The TUS-600 is a four gang tuner. Once my setton webpage is complete(hopefully this summer) I will post all the individual specs such as THD, ID, etc.

congrats on your beautiful and rare set!

I also collect settons--I have 2 BS-5500 power amps and a TUS-600 tuner. I am still looking for the matching preamp.

may I ask how much you paid for your set?

post some pics when you get a chance, too!!

Hello, thank you for the specs. I payed 350,- Euro (510$) for both items. The seller told me, that both items are in mint condition …
I will receive them this week and take some photos on sunday.

Regards, Dirk

Fontman-
Congradulations on your purchase! I own a set that I have had since 1978.
Where did you find the one you just purchased?
Are the owners/instruction manuals part of the purchase?

Long time since I've had the time to spend time on this site.
I can finally send you the copy if you want it. PM me and let me know!

Also: To the guest named Geerd in Holland trying to get copies as well, join AK and send me a message. I will send
a copy of the the AS3300 and TUS600 manuals for you too.

Hi AK.

My first post so far :) I´m from Denmark, and is quiet in love with hifi... And now i´m even more in love.

I´m the proud owner of these vintage soundsystem

Setton AS-3300
Setton TUS-600
KEF Chorale(i think. is there a model there is laying down?)

And a Luxman K10 cassette player.

I got them from a family member who was going to throw them out :yikes: They havent been used i about 3 years, so it´s a bit noise atm.

I was hoping that i could get a copy of the service + repair manual, so that i can clean them :smoke:

Best Regards: Dann

EDIT: Here is a link to some pictures. They arent in the best quality, but i´ll post some better later. http://diegodk.magix.net/ -> to the left under soundsystem
