Technics 1200 MK2 pitch adjustment

hi, just picked up my second Technics 1200 MK2. actually its a 1210 MK2. everything is working well on it so far except for the pitch adjust LED does not light up at %0 and i have to adjust %-1 to get the strobe dots to stay put.

anybody else have a similar issue? how might i try and resolve it?

this is my primary issue but while im talkin' about 1200s i notice on both i now own, there is a slight wobble to the platters. i thought it might just be a slightly bent spindle on my first one but now this new 1210 does the same thing.
any thoughts on this?

adjusting the pitch fader requires taking apart the turntable and a multimeter. Its easy to do if you have the desire. I have done it to several tables. Look on You Tube for a video uploaded by viberfrank. He takes you step by step thru the process.

i just watched the viperfrank video, he mostly explains how to change the adjust to accommodate a wider or narrower range of adjustment. my issue is that the LED will not light up at any point between %+8 and %-8 and my %0 is actually %-1...hmm!

There are other videos on you tube that show you exactly how to do it, keep looking if that wasn't it. You basically have two different places to make adjustments. One is on the pitch fader itself and it is tricky to get to, but very doable. You get to it from the bottom. The other one is underneath the platter. Do both. You can do it without a multimeter, but it is easer with the meter. As far as the platter wobbling, are you sure is the platter or just the dots wobbling. A lot of those dots on the platter where not made in a perfect straight line, so when the platter spins, it looks like the platter is wobbling, but is actually the dots.

maybe the LED needs to be replaced? Check the solder joints. Replacing the LED isn't really too tough - I did mine and I am definitely a novice when it comes to soldering
