I recently acquired an early 70's (1973) Technics MKI turntable. Unfortunately, the shipper did not properly pack the near mint turntable leaving the dust cover attached to the hinges even though he was advised to separate it. Of course the original pristine brown tint bubble cover was broken in half by the time the shipment arrived to me. I located a seller stocking and shipping replacement grey tint MKII dust covers from the USA and purchased one. It arrived quickly, well packed, and...broken. Fortunately, the seller shipped a replacement immediately without requiring a return and no questions asked. I figured the MKII part that included small rubber front pads would sit properly on top of the MKI deck and it does so perfectly, assisted by the rear rubber pads I bought from the fabulous folks at KAB. What I need to know is will the early style MKII replacement hinges, part# SFAT122-01A mount on the MKI without modification. They look identical and have the necessary two adjustment screws on the hinges the dust cover tabs slide into. The MKI hinges has permanent rivets in place of these screws so the hinges cannot be adjusted to accept the thicker tabs on the replacement MKII dust cover. Any advice is much appreciated, as I would like to have a functioning dust cover on hinges.
