Hi guys,
I just picked up this Technics 615 cassette deck today for the princely sum of $10 Aus including the original owners manual with warranty card, dealer info and service diagram.
It powers up, all lights work and when I press play the motor spins (I pressed my ear to the case and I can hear it).
The guy I bought it from got it from his dad who had it from new. When it stopped working he rang around and got quotes of $80 just to open it up and have a look at it, so he decided to sell it. It has a pretty cool sloping tape mechanism.
So I opened it up and sure enough, it appears to just need belts. It's VERY clean inside and in excellent condition so I'm hoping I can work out how to replace the belts and give it some new life
Any ideas on where to buy them from? What else should I do/check on apart from a head clean?
Cheers,
Homer
