I have an original SL-120 with an SME arm and would like to mount a spare SL-1200 arm on it to experiment.

What arm mounts will fit on this TT? SL-1200 MKII?

How about an SL-1600 MK II, 1700 MK II, or 1800 MK II?

A Guy after my own heart. I think the arm boards that places like Origin sell will fit the older 1200, or you could probably make one I would think. Now as to the 1200 arm I don't think it would fit as the hole on your SL120 isn't big enough to accommodate the base of a SL1200MKII series arm do to the size with the VTA ring. As to the SL1800MKII I'll assume if one made a mounting plate and could use those little white spacers that attach to the bottom of the table and then screw the arm board to that it should work. As to the 1600 and 1700 MKII as you know with the automation I doubt you'd want to change arms unless you wanted to make either table manual. I almost changed the arm on the one 1800MKII I was doing but got a good deal on a 1210M5g arm so I just used the base i had from the 1800MKII.
 
You'll need to have a tonearm mount made. Your only drop in tonearm alternative otherwise is an Infinity Black Widow. An excellent very low mass tonearm. The 1200 tonearm is good. The SME or Black Widow are among my favorite tonearms.

The SL-120 and SL-110 I have both have an SME 3009 improved II arm. Nice kit indeed!

I have a lead on a 1200 MKII and was hoping the armboard would fit the original SL-120. Any way to modify it to work perhaps?
