Technics Cassette Heads? Whats the difference?

Macdude

Hi /on/ Fidelity
Over my years of collecting I've used a number of Technics cassette decks. One thing I could never seem to understand was the difference between head styles. Some decks, normally the cheaper units, seem to use LH heads, then the mid-lines used HPF, and the high-end units seemed to have MX heads. Whats the difference? Does HPF stand for Hot Press Ferrite? Any ideas as to which one would have the longest longevity?

LH= permalloy
HPF= ferrite (hot pressed) longest wearing
MX=sendust pretty long wearing, better for metal tape recording
I have a (broken) Concord reel to reel with lifetime warranty ferrite heads.

Очень хотелось бы узнать подробнее о технологии HPF - какие были эти головки? И можно ли сегодня найти их в рабочем состоянии для замены? Техника не передавала эту технологию кому-нибудь из производителей головок?
