Technics horns??? Vancouver CL

Twocoaster, good luck with those speaks! I was hoping someone local would jump on those (so I wouldn't have too!).

Let us know what turns up.

You'd bring a GUN to someones house to look at stereo equipment????

I hope you're joking....

If the sale is at someones home,I feel better showing up with alot of cash,If Im meeting the seller in a
south central seattle parking lot at night,You bet!
I dont want to steer away from your thread that I already
hi-jacked,Another thread maybe!

Good luck on getting the speaker's Twocoaster also!

I don't take a gun with me to look at other peoples house.. I mean I've got their address and know where to find them... It would be crazy for them to try something..

But I DO tuck a .45 in the back of my waist band when someone comes to my place to look.. you NEVER KNOW...

Update

Picked up the speakers today. I am happy to say that the seller was a stand-up guy who kept his word; I thanked him for his integrity. He said he had 20+ emails and offers above the asking $. I won't get a chance to audition these for a day or so, but will report when I do.

Like many of you, I just love trying new gear. Wife wonders why I always have to change my stuff around....

BTW, thanks sluggo, fishface et al for the good luck words.

Glad you got them, but you know that there are those of us that will want to hear them.

"He sees, he shoots, HE SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORES!!
:yippy: :yippy: :yippy::yippy: :yippy::yippy::yippy::yippy: :yippy: :yippy:
Hmmmmm. I guess that has to be THE BEST score of the year. I think that it will be a tough one to beat!:scratch2: Conrats!

This thread is blowing me away! I had NO idea that Technics ever made speakers of this caliber. I'm dying to know if the sound lives up to the legend (or if this is simply a case of people prizing a rare model).

The woofer cones on these horn models are very reminiscent of JBL cones.

Ditto. Can't wait to hear your impressions. Congrats! :music:

I've actually heard and seen a pair of this line.. they are really nice and sweet sounding speakers.

We all have our own idea of what is good... some really love these as I do.. others think because they are old.. NO DICE.. There are a lot of old speakers that were spectacular that today we all dismiss, amazing how we look at thing different with age..

When I heard this line, it was about 20 years ago.... what do we remember? SWEET TUNES!!! For $150, I don't think today you could touch the sound for less than $1000

That's a really sweet score. I have looked at the high-end Technics speakers on vintagetechnics.info about a hundred times, they look so cool, and I would love to have a pair, especially at that price. Can't wait to hear your impressions - congrats!!`

Overdue review

Hi Guys, seems to take me ages to get around to audio stuff lately. I finally got a decent session in with the Technics SB-E100 pair I picked up a while back. They remind me quite a bit of the Klipsch Heresy's that I once had, which is no surprise with the horns. They do produce more bass, being a ported cab. Getting serious volume out of them is no problem, as they are 95 db/1m/1w. However, for me, they are not quite an ideal speaker - it seems I may not be a horn fan. Recent reconfiguration of my listening area also makes these a bit oversized, so my A/D/S L810 pair will likely replace them. No doubt, they have been lots of fun, tho!:D

I see they are back up on CL, they look like they're in great condition! Mebbe you should try unloading them in the big pond, I'm sure there are collectors out there that would jump on these in a second!

Hey fishface, yup, those are the ones. They are in exceptionally nice condition, but I guess I'm just not inclined to the "forwardness" of horns. I thought about "going global" with these, but couldn't face the packing and shipping issues. They are large and over 60lbs each.
