I am the original owner of a Technics RS-1500 and also bought the RP-2422 block. I originally bought this Technics RS-1500 and RP-2422 when I worked at Tech Hifi, with the idea of using it as a mix down deck from an Otari 8 track R2R. Well those plans never materialized. Thirty years later, I bought an Avid Mbox.
I'd like to service my Technics RS-1500, record my old R2R tapes to CD and sell my Technics. I never really used the Technics RS-1500. It probably has no more than 200 hours on it and the RP-2422 has never been installed and is still in its original box.
I used the Technics RS-1500 a couple of months ago and although I have not used it a lot, time still takes its toll and there was a whining from one of the rollers and the brakes did not stop as they should.
My problem is where do I service this R2R. I've talked to Vinnie at Audio Proz in Watertown, MA twice. HE is so over the top, I can not get a word in and I don't feel comfortable with him. On the other hand he has a ton of R2R parts on his website so I think he is experienced and deals with R2R a lot.
Can anyone recommend at Good place (including Audio Proz) to service my Technics RS-1500 in NH, MA, VT, or ME.
Thanks for any help, Nelson
