Technics RS-715US Reel to Reel Tape Deck

I can’t by my life figure this out at all. I bought a Mint Technics RS-715US & will have Tomorrow a Technics RS-714US Reel to Reel Tape Deck. I just keep scratching my Head & wondering why NO one has looked into the Technics RS-715US?
It was Rebranded from Panasonic. Here is what is on it. Has 3-Motor’s, 4-Head’s, 4-Track’s, Auto Reverse, Solonoid Operation, Fast Breaking, Side Wood Pannel’s, Stainless Steel Front, Back has Plug for Wired Remote Operation, 7” Reel’s. Sound on Sound Echo, Feather Touch Control’s.
This was there Cadillac for 1972-1973-1974. This Deck has all the Bell’s & Whistles on it. The Weight alone is over 55 Pound’s. Could it be because no one has figured it out yet? Or could it be everyone wants 10” Reel’s no matter what? This Model in my opinion is made as good or even better than the Technics RS-1700 for Quality. In Fact Tomorrow I will have it’s Cousin the Technics RS-714US the only difference is 1 little Switch & that is all. Could it be no one has figured out yet how good the 2 model’s were made yet?? Once I replace the Side Wood Pannel’s it will look like new. These 2 models have the Fastest Rewind I’d say over 5000 RPM’S & faster then the RS-1500, RS-1700. You don’t want any fingers near them in fast Rewind ever. So maybe this will stir people up to start looking into these 2 Technics Model’s? The RS-715US started out as National Panasonic RS-715US & then Panasonic RS-715US & then finally as Technics RS-715US. There were only 3 model’s Ever, Ever built like this ever, the Panasonic, Technics RS-715US, Technics
RS-714US & Technics RS-745U 4-Channel Reel to Reel. Maybe this will stir people up to see what they have missed all these years? If it’s only the Reel Size I like 7” better than 10” Size!!

Sorry, but NO. The RS-1700 (along with 1500 series) has the isolated loop system which was a major advance in technology and does make a big difference in W&F (3 times less than the 714/715). Six heads, Auto-reverse, 15IPS, quart-phase locked control, I2L IC logic, motors with large reel capability, 3x bias/Eq select, wider frequency response, better signal to noise, etc....there is no comparison. Rewind speed is plenty fast for the 1700, about 150sec for 2500 ft of tape. Both suffer from failing caps, but that's the only downside. Not saying the RS-714/15 isn't a gem, just challenging that particular comparison.

Your Panasonic was probably rebranded from National!:)

I need to ask a Question? I found a Technics RS-745U in Japan. I will have to rebuild it!! The Pinch Roller is Bent on the Bracket. I have a good mounting bracket. Half of the Front would have to be Transferred to the New Bracket?
People can you go on Janice in Japan & Put Technics RS-745U 4-Channel Reel to Reel in & tell me if it’s just the Bolt that holds the Pinch Roller in Place is Bent or if the Whole Solid Steel Bracket is Bent? If it’s just the Bolt it will be an easy fix but if it’s the whole bracket then everything would have to be transferred from the 3 motor’s to Head Assembly.
to all the inside parts. If it’s just that bolt I can handle it but if the Solid Steel Pinch Roller Bracket is Bent then it’s a major Operation & time consuming Project
