I recently bought a Technics SA-5370 receiver and am having an issue with its left output. I don't know the correct terminology, but the woofer cone on the left speaker moves significantly more than I think it should (much more than the woofer in the other speaker) and its response seems to lag behind the music. Music from the left speaker is distorted, and there's not much bass.
The speaker/woofer itself isn't the issue... the same issue occurs when I connect different speakers.
It doesn't matter if I connect the speaker to the "main" or "remote" output terminals... the issue occurs on the left channel of both.
Is a "wobbly" woofer a typical symptom of a bad component inside a receiver? I'm interested in fixing it myself but I'm not sure where to start.
