Technics SA-GX670 IR Remote Specifications?

Hi all,

I am new here, so I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.

I have a 1994 Technics SA-GX670P-K. Not the best from the mid-90s, but it gets the job done. I want to build a remote for it but cannot find any specifications on the IR binary codes. The P in the model is odd because according to the service manual it should be E, EB, EG, G, or GN. So, I am unsure if the original remote control model is RAK-SA114XH or RAK-SA704XH. Either way, the service manual for the receiver does not have specifications for the remote controls and I cannot find specifications for either remote.

Does anyone have a solution?

Is there a reason you don't just want to get an inexpensive universal remote and call it a day? Technics is generally pretty easy.

I am not very knowledgable on remotes. I understand there is a binary standard used today, but who knows if it was used in 1994. So, there's no knowing a learning universal remote will work.

There was a standard back then as well. While the codes may not be the same, any decent universal remote should be able to handle it. Universal remotes are cheap, and even if you have to return it and try a different one, it's certainly less work than trying to build one yourself.

Thank you for the information. I want to build a remote as a hobbyist project. I guess I will purchase a universal remote and intercept signals to understand what works.
