Technics sa303 help!!!

I own a technics SA 303. Awesome receiver overall, sounds better than my pioneer sa520. But it has the dreaded stk chips in it which as we know are pretty weak kneed when it comes to power output. I have a pair of cerwin Vega at12s and while cranking then one day I had a channel get quiet and completely distorted on me. Did I blow an stk chip????
