Technics SB 8000 - some questions

Hi, does the SB-8000 have any parts that are near impossible to get (unobtainium) when broken? There is one pair in my place on sale now so I'd better known this first. THanks.

And one more question: Has anyone heard both the SB-8000 AND Diatone DS-2000? Or the Technics SB series AND the Diatone DS series? If so, what's your impression on them? I ask because I own the Diatone, but the SB-8000 is a few hundred miles away, not easy to do an A-B test.

I don't have any actual experience but I have to guess that any of the crossover components can be easily replaced if needed. You could probably find suitable replacements for the level controls but finding an exact fit may be challenging.

But my guess is that finding any replacement drivers would require scavenging from donor speakers or finding some modern equivalent.

I remember that line of Technics gear from when I was a kid and always thought it was cool as hell.

Not heard the Diatone DS-2000 , but I do have the SB = 7000 a , they are now 46 years old and still singing . A very underrated speaker . So I would guess that 8000 may be much better . The tweeters could be a issue , with these models , if in good condition and a fair price I would pick them up . The first 800.00 would be my price to part ways with my 7000 . They are 9 in condition .
