I just bought a pair of SB-M3. The units appear to all be working but the woofers need new surrounds. They were at a 2nd hand store for the price of a night out at the movies! A bargain! I saw a pair on auction over here (in Japan) in a similar state go for over 10 times that. I could probably sell these and make some money but I really want to listen to them. Does anyone have any idea on where to get suitable surrounds and then how to put them on? I've never done it before, so maybe with speakers like this, I should leave it to a pro...

Never heard any of the Technics disc speakers; would be curious to know how they compare with their contemporaries. Haven't been impressed by others from Technics.

My SB-10 set are currently top of the heap in my personal collection. Besting L710, L810, KLH 5, NS1000 (this one is close). I'm powering them with a set of big tube monoblocks and the sound is sublime:tresbon:

Start by taking the woofer out then removing the black trim ring. Then measure the width of the roll, diameter of the basket (inner most foam attachment point), and diameter of the cone. Shoot those measurements over to Rick Cobb and tell him you need a "flat-attach" surround that matches. I'm fairly certain he could come up with something that'll work. The instructions he supplies with his kits are very straightforward and will get you going in no time. Look like a very nice set of speakers that definitely need to get moving again!

Congrats! Very nice and certainly worth getting repaired. I own a pair of smaller SB-M5's,used to listen to 'em often... always sounded great!

Technics SB-M300 and SB-M500II are Technics worthy of audiophile status.
