I recently ran into a pair of Technics SB-R3s for just 10 euro in a charity/thrift store. Never knew that Technics made speakers and some googling told me that lower end Technics speakers are not considered very favourably. A friend needs some speakers though so I picked 'em up.
To my untrained ears, they sound decent enough really (cheap sony amp, 20 sq meter room), although they seem to be lacking some punch in the bass (compared to the ancient bose 301 series II that I once got for free and use myself). However, I wasn't able to find much info about this specific model though, no user reviews, no specs, just some pictures. You can't really go wrong for just a tenner, but I would like to know more about these things.
Did anyone ever run into these things? Anything I should check or take care of? Do I want to bother passing them on to my mate or would he be way better off with something else after a small investment?
