Technics fans, in case you have not seen this...

There is a site called Farfetch where you can source a Technics SL-1200GEG-S for a really good price:

https://www.farfetch.com/shopping/men/technics-grey-sl-1200-g-direct-turntable-item-13594961.aspx

Your first purchase is 10% off. This model is a European spec with adjustable voltage. You will have to source a US type AC cord to use with it. It already comes with three other European power cables.

I purchased one and it is the real deal. Your welcome!

I forgot to add shipping is included in the price. There is some kind of Paypal international transaction fee that was around $30. Other than that, all VAT and taxes are included in the price. It came double-boxed with the factory Technics box sealed and unopened.

No affiliation. Great deal and universal power supply! That is all.

Cheers!

Would a non-US unit have warrantee in the US? Most manufacturers wouldn’t honor the warrantee in this case.

Most have the policy to prevent gray market goods.

Gray market goods are from unauthorized dealers. This is from an authorized dealer. Warranty is two years to the original purchaser according to the warranty in the box. It also states that if service is needed, it may have to be returned to the country of purchase if there are not service centers available in the country it is being used. Seems pretty solid to me. But, I suggest that anyone considering this deal to satisfy themselves if this is a concern to them. There is a 14 day return policy with Farfetch. I'm not worried about it, I bought two of them.

"A grey or gray market (sometimes confused with the similar term parallel market)[1][2] refers to the trade of a commodity through distribution channels that are legal but unintended by the original manufacturer or trade mark proprietor. Grey market products (grey goods) are products sold by a manufacturer or their authorized agent outside the terms of the agreement between the reseller and the manufacturer."

Cool if Technics doesn't limit their warrantee.

I don't see any kind of disclaimer on the printed warranty that would limit Technics responsibility for warranty claims (if ever needed) solely because it was purchased in one country and used in another. You bring up a valid point about gray market goods. Anyone contemplating such a major purchase should satisfy one's-self that they are covered appropriately and to their own satisfaction. I'm just passing along the information for the deal. I cannot speak for Technics or anyone else for that matter.

One thing we have not really spoken about yet, is that getting service from any dealer you didn't originally purchase from may not be pleasant. Kind of like buying a car at one dealership and then having warranty service performed at another. They will gladly perform the warranty work, but it is likely you are put at the end of the queue behind those who purchased from them. In the end, it gets done. It doesn't both me, but others may not want the hassle YMMV of course.

I wouldn't definitely contact Technics about the warranty before plunking down that much dough.

B&G's I only ask this question for my own knowledge. While I know the SL-1200 series are great tables, what makes the Technics SL-1200GEG-S worth 3k? As I said, this is for my own knowledge. Thanks!
