Technics SL-1300 buzz touching ground stops buzz

I have an SL-1300 that I got off mercari. Generally working very well. RCA's and Ground look original possibly. I hooked up to Pre-amp and I am getting general buzz. Ground is just loose wires no fork with plastic, maybe fork was cut off. When I touch copper directly while on the ground on my pre-amp the buzz is greatly reduced or I can get it to stop. What should I be looking for here? Replacement of all wiring? Would a fork on the ground solve this issue?

The "fork" is nice to have but not necessary as long as you have some bare wire exposed and can attach that to the ground terminal on the preamp. Are you doing that?

If there is noise when the wire is not connected to ground and none when it is, you have your solution.

The exposed wire is directly attached to the ground on the preamp. It buzzes. When I touch the exposed wire when it is attached to the ground the buzzing lessens a lot or stops.

So yes I suspected that is what that meant. So since that is occuring, what can be the issue for the buzzing?

Ok I put it in my ground socket of a plug and the buzzing stopped completely. So that is not really practical so what else can I use to ground it? I am not using an Amp, and no radiator. Or what other options do I have? DO I just tape it to an open ground socket?

Well I got it, I just plugged the pre-amp into the same socket as the TT and regrounded to the pre-amp and the buzzing is gone.

That's good. Best not to use the wall plug ground.
