Technics SL-1300 mk2 warm to the touch

While I'm still struggling with my original SL-1300 mk2 and the cueing part, I found a second one for a reasonable price on eBay. It's actually in better shape than the original one in many ways, cleaner, the suspension is good, etc. It holds speed perfectly and the arm is in great shape, but after playing it for a bit I smelled some hot electronics and the top of the table is warm to the touch, especially at the front left, looking at it from the front. Before I tear into it, I'm wondering if there's anything specific I should look for. I recapped the original, so I'm thinking I would just swap that main board into the newer one, along with the original power supply board and see how that goes.

Thoughts?

TIA

These tts are managed by logic. You may want to get your hands on a service manual before you proceed. I think it would be far easier to turn a working one into a non-working one than vice-versa.

Good luck. I've owned one since '95 or so.

Truer words were never spoke!

However, it seems to be fine now. I love these turntables so much. For the price (around $200), they just can't be beat.
