Technics Sl-15 Turntable Repair??

Hello - I have an recently purchased Technics SL15 Direct Drive turntable that won't power up . The program buttons never worked correctly as the scan would happen , however, the individual tracks would never be accessible through the program keys . It played LP's for 1 day and after a scan just died .

Is there anyone who can recommend a repair guy who knows these turntables in the SF/OAK area or possibly where I can mail to a qualified guy in the US?

Thanks so much , love this turntable and want another 30 years!

That's the basics, dunno someone specific for these TTs beyond. Try contacting member EchoWars in KC, secure shipping should be easily doable.
 
I have repaired one last month with the same issue: it would not scan the tracks. The sensor needs to be checked and adjusted according to the service manual. It's not a trivial task.

First the trivial part: the user adjustable sensitivity selector at the back of the machine needs to be set at its default level, i.e. in the middle (screw slit horizontal). That's easy but probably won't solve your problem. :)

Inside there are several adjustment pots, the first one to try is the band (track) sensor gain is in the cover, below the transparent dust cover part. The transparent cover needs to be removed before you can access it. Increasing the gain a little might help. If I remember correctly turning it clockwise increases the gain.

Then there are at least 4 adjustment pots on the PCB below the platter: for the down sensor, slice level, peak hold and timer adjustments. The first 2 can be set with a DMM, for the last two you'd need a scope, or you'd need to mark the start position and carefully try to change both pots in small steps to see if that helps.
 
thank you! I have had that manual adjust on back in the middle , must be something inside , sounds like a job for a tech not me :(
