Technics SL 1500

Looking at this turntable with no cart or headshell. Guy wants 50 bucks. Assuming everything works and it's in reasonable condition, it seems like a good deal. I'd like to hear some thoughts though. I have some other turntables...Denon DP 1500 and Phillips 212. Would this Technics be comparable? I believe this to be the original SL 1500, not the MK 2.

The Technics is a good solid early generation direct drive, with a higher mass tonearm. $50 is a relative steal, assuming everything works. I'd use with with a lower-compliance cartridge; save the higher compliance ones for the Philips 212.
