Technics SL-1700 counterweight

Hello,

I picked up a Technics SL-1700 yesterday from craigslist. It seems to be in great condition, but it is missing the counterweight. I searched on eBay and google, but I am unable to find a counterweight specifically for the SL-1700. Does anyone know if a counterweight from a different Technics turnable would be compatible?

Thanks!

I'm certain that you can use the counterweight from plenty of them. The S tone arms that used the round weight all are similar. I'm betting the easy to find later 1200's would work but I can't say for sure. I have 1700 in the project pile so I'll check what I have, but I'm sure others will chime in with several options.

I found that the counter weight from an SL 1300 worked just fine on my Pioneer PL7. If you can't find one for a 1700, I would chance one from one of the other Technics tables.

Are you aware that the counterweight from a SL1500 will work as well as one from a 1500MKII but the MKII counterweight will be heavier. The 1200MKII will work as well as any of the ones from the 1600 1700 and 1800MKII as there the same as the 1200MKII

We're talking the original SL-1700?

Organdonorparts.com has one from a SL-1800. Same as SL-1700. As well they have one for a SL-1300.
