Technics SL-1700mkii Auto-Return Query...

@PsySounds Pull the bottom cover off and check the smaller gear under the tonearm that controls the arm movement. They crack and spin on the shaft causing this to happen. I just replaced one...

Whoo Hooo LOL as I turned it over I could see (and hear) the gear rolling around.. There seems to be several places to find a new one..any recommendations AND I also need both back feet. (aargh) any idea on those?? I see on line folks selling front feet.. are they interchangeable?? And in this time of good karma hun, I was raised in Essex MD!! I now live in Buffalo, NY. I still don't know if this virus was the best thing for the Orioles season or not??? Anyway, I doo GREATLY appreciate the simple clarity and support!! Stay Healthy!! Peace and Good Listening!!
 
So I just replaced the gear and now it is almost possessed.. I had forgotten it started doing this just a few days before it stopped returning. with the auto return in different positions (on or off) it kinda does different things, but mostly when I engage the cue, it seems to pull the tone arm into the center about 4 inches.. So if the button is on, this starts after the rise from resting. if off I can manually cue up and move but when I cue to go down, it pulls into the middle... upon return it will also pull up at record end, return then pull back into the middle the same 4inches (about half way) then drop???? YIKES.. Should I be concerned for my family?? ANY INSIGHT IS MOST APPRECIATED..Thanks
