Technics SL 1710 turntable mat

I noticed several months back what looks like an oil film under the mat on the turntable. Having recently been serviced I assumed it was from lubing the motor. Today I replaced the rubber mat with a cork mat and noticed the oily film had returned. Are these mats known to leach oils like the Realistic mats?
