Technics SL-1800 Headshell Replacement

Is the Technics SL-1800 Headshell compatible with the SL-1200 mkII headshells you can find everywere? A quick google search says all the mkII's are the same, and even later models too, but couldn't find info on original 1200-1800 series.

the original non MKII were different in that they are square at the front of the shell vs sloped and they have an insert piece that the cartridge attaches to and is adjustable. It's held in place by a set screw.
