This is a semi auto TT with the tall spindle like you could put multiples on.I do not like this spindle.Have read in the past of a short replacement spindle. Is this a model specific item or modification? I have a couple other Technics "parts" tables with short spindles-would be nice if one of them would work.Dont recall other model #s at moment & they are buried in the garage.Any info appreciated!

I have the SL-1350 changer auto on/off and it has both the tall changer spndle and the single LP spindle.
Other models had non removeable spindle/shaft.

The changer models like the SL-1950 came with both the tall spindle that you have and a short spindle for single play. Both spindles were specific to the changers so the spindles in your parts units won't work (unless one is a changer). Unlike the tall changer spindle, which is inserted into the center hole and turned about 1/4 turn to lock it in place, the single play spindle has a cupped base which fits around the motor shaft instead of into that hole.

I believe all the Technics direct drive changers used the same spindles for all their models. If I remember, though, the belt drive changers used a different tall spindle but the same short one. If that's true then any Technics short changer spindle will work, including the MCS badged ones sold by J. C. Penney's, so they may come up on eBay frequently. Just do a saved search or RSS feed and keep your eyes peeled.
