I just picked up this table for a 20 spot....this thing is in very nice shape. The cartrage says 681EEE calibration standard...I haven't googled it yet. I was at a yard sale 250 miles from my house by deer camp and bought a few old traps from this old trapper guy (traps are going on the wall) and we were BS ing...I asked for the millionth time at a sale..Any turntables? and for once...Yes. My first thought was to flip it but... its kinda growing on me. Any input would be great.

If that's an original OEM factory Stanton NY 681eee stylus/cartridge you scored big time never mind the table, cartridge worth 12 X or more what you payed.
 
In addition to the value of the 681EEE - if it has the stacking spindle (~$70) and the single-play spindle (~$60) I'd say you did amazingly well!
 
He said factory cartrage...I don't see a NY on it tho....no spindals tho just the single play.
 
HI , your sl 1950 is not a bad TT. It's better than most new entry level TTst today. Check the specs on vintage technics TTs .com. I have a sl 1900 in use. I use it as my 3rd TT, my Marantz 6300 is down right now. It is very easy to work on and repair yourself.As far as the 681 EEE I would take a guess it would be a N Y one ( based on the age on the age of the TT)but the only way to tell is exam it under a microscope. All in all I think you got a very good deal. The TT is worth much more than the $20.00 and the 681 EEE even more if in good shape. Good Luck
 
I have a Sl-1900 as well. Got it for free with the box and started me on my journey to by lps 3 years ago. Still using it in my main system.
 
After a quick look over it will need the silicon for the cuing ...it drops like a rock! Now I just need to find out what weight oil....I have been looking for something to hold me over till I fix my 1219 I killed.... right now I'm using a lab 500....so not sure if this is a upgrade or not.

The 1900 single play and 1950 stacking spindle are the same TT. If you do a search here for "Technics SL 1900 Cue Lever" On post #2 there is a PDF downland From VE about how to do this.The 1950 is method C. The lift is mechanical with lift cams and springs. If you scroll down further there is a link to a youtube vid. This explains how to do it, step by step, it is very easy I did mine this way. you only need a philips driver. needle nose pliers, alcohal and white lithium grease Takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs very easy doesn't take much skill. you can PM me if necessary Good Luck
